My Story

Since childhood, I have enjoyed creating and building. It started with Lincoln logs and very quickly progressed to working alongside my father building homes. I was homeschooled through most of my primary and secondary education. This allowed me the freedom within my schedule to work alongside my father in a variety of home building trades. While working with my father, I naturally gravitated towards tasks that required a clear process, critical details, and creative problem solving. I continued working in the home building industry while attending college, eventually working with my older brother as a finish carpenter in Nashville, TN. There, I had the opportunity to work in many large custom homes with beautifully designed interior woodworking. I developed a deep appreciation for the woodworking process, as well as the rich natural beauty of the wood used in these homes. My growing appreciation of woodworking, coupled with my natural inclination towards process and creativity, led me to pursue further education at the Chattanooga Woodworking Academy (CWA). I devoted the next four years to intense study and practical application of woodworking, learning about everything from fine furniture to traditional Appalachian style log homes. While attending CWA, I took on woodworking commissions with the oversight of the school’s director, Bill Carney, managed an architectural millwork shop, and apprenticed as a pipe organ builder. While I enjoy many aspects of creating and building, my penchant for details, the refinement of processes, and empathic creativity steer my passion in the direction of fine furniture and architectural woodworking. What I particularly enjoy about what I do is befriending those I collaborate with, sharing my vision of beauty and quality, and making that vision a permanent fixture in the lives of my clients through the work of my hands. In addition to woodworking, I enjoy any form of learning, Brazilian jiu jitsu, health and fitness, nature, spending time with my family, and sharing the knowledge and skills I have, and continue to build, with others.
